Police Investigate Two Car-to-Car Shootings in Pomona

The shootings happened just about a half-hour apart

Steven Vickers of Pomona was shot to death in front his daughter and grandson on Sunday night, less than an hour before a fatal shooting took the life of Terrell Redic, 44, of Rancho Cucamonga, some four miles away. Reggie Kumar reports for the NBC4 News at Noon on April 22, 2013.

Two men were killed in two separate shootings that occurred less than an hour apart in Pomona on Sunday night.

The first shooting happened just before 9:00 p.m. on the 2300 block of Farringdon Avenue. Steven Vickers, 52, of Pomona died at a hospital, according to Pomona police.

About a half-hour later, the second shooting occurred about four miles away, near the corner of Towne and San Bernadino avenues.

Terrell Redic, 44, of Rancho Cucamonga, died at the scene, police said.

Vickers, pictured below, was shot in front of his daughter and grandson, who were inside a car against which the elder man was leaning.

The victim's grand-daughter, Alijahonnae Davis, said two men wearing a hoodie and jersey approached Vickers. Then they started shooting.

The two shooting scenes are very close to the 10 Freeway.

So far no arrests have been made. Investigators are trying to see if the two shootings are connected.

The shootings come amid an apparent uptick in violence in Pomona. About an hour before the shootings, a man was found beaten at Towne Avenue and 4th Street.
