Gun Store Owner Found Dead in San Bernardino Home

Jack Cone was found by his wife, Laurie, on their bedroom floor

“The farther I went in, I realized things missing or things ransacked through, and then I found him on the ground, all bloodied,” said Laurie Cone, who found her husband, Jack, dead on their bedroom floor the morning of their 29th anniversary. Police are searching for a motive and suspects in the killing. Jacob Rascon reports from San Bernardino.

Investigators are continuing to search for a motive in the killing and clues to who gunned down Jack Cone on what would have been he and Laurie’s 29th anniversary.

Laurie Cone said she came home at 4 a.m. Monday to find her husband, Jack, dead on the bedroom floor.

“The farther I went in, I realized things missing or things ransacked through, and then I found him on the ground, all bloodied,” she said.

The coupled owned a repair store that doubled as a licensed gun shop, Laurie said.

Whoever killed Jack Cone drove off in the couple’s truck with more than a dozen rifles and handguns, police said.

“My husband didn’t deserve this at all – he would have gave them anything – anything,” said Laurie Cone, the victim’s wife. “They didn’t have to hurt him.”

The shots that woke up neighbor Bill Ramirez on the morning of the shooting are typical in this area of San Bernardino, Ramirez said.

“I heard a couple pops, you know, like gunshots,” Ramirez said. “This is a crazy neighborhood.”
