A motorcycle officer assigned to President Barack Obama's motorcade was involved in a crash Friday morning on the 405 Freeway.

The crash occurred near the Olympic Boulevard exit on the southbound side of the West Los Angeles freeway. The officer, who was walking around after the crash, was transported to a hospital.

Details regarding injuries or the crash were not immediately available. The officer was either part of the motorcade or just arriving to join the security detail as it escorted President Obama to Los Angeles International Airport during his weeklong California visit.

One southbound lane was closed for the emergency response.

The motorcade included motorcycle officers, other CHP vehicles, sport utility vehicles and the president's limo.

The crash was reported at about 10:30 a.m. as President Obama was departing Los Angeles for the Palm Springs area, where he is scheduled to spend the weekend and host a meeting of Asian leaders next week. Obama arrived Thursday in Southern California for fundraisers and a taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," scheduled to air Friday.
