A Redondo Beach resident became so fed up with the noise levels coming from a neighboring preschool that she put up a large sign in her window telling children to "shut up."
When Kelly Kessler moved into the Los Angeles County neighborhood 11 years ago, the public school across the street from her home became a preschool, she said.
The shrieks, shouting and screams at Valor Christian Academy begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m., she said. When she could no longer take it, she put up two signs facing the school: a large one says says "Shut Up Valor" and a smaller one below that says "Stop Screaming Rude Day Care!"
The principal of the school, Jon Fast, said parents don't like the signs.
"They do see it as a threat," Fast said. "I wholeheartedly believe that it does not pose any real danger."
Fast said he would prefer a dialogue with Kessler and other neighbors about possible solutions. When he met with her she yelled and gave him unrealistic solutions, he said.
"Like building a 20- to 25-foot concrete wall around the preschool," Fast said.

Kessler, who is married to a local Boy Scout leader, said she put the signs up over her husband's objections.
"He didn't like the sign," she said.
Kessler said she sees nothing wrong it.
"There's no bad words on there," she said.
Kessler said the signs aren't coming down until something is done about the noise.
