A Wednesday night house fire turned into a crime scene after San Bernardino firefighters discovered that the entire home had been used to grow marijuana plants.
San Bernardino City Fire responded to a report of a possible house fire at 105 S. Newport Ave around 11 p.m. and discovered heavy smoke coming from the attic area.
Once firefighters entered the house, they found around 3000 marijuana plants inside, officials said.
Because of concern that the fire might spread and start burning the marijuana plants, firefighters aggressively fought the attic fire and were able to ventilate the fire from the top of the house.
No one was injured and none of the plants were burned in the fire.

The San Bernardino Fire Department is working the San Bernardino Police for the marijuana investigation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
