Sierra Madre Residents Say Mailboxes Tampered With Overnight

At least 30 residents in Sierra Madre awoke Saturday morning to find their mailboxes had been tampered with, officials said.

Around 7 a.m. a Sierra Madre resident living in the 400 block of N. Canon Avenue went out for a morning walk and noticed his mailbox had been tampered with, according to the Sierra Madre Police Department.

Shortly after, residents living in the northeast part of town found that their mailboxes had also been tampered with, police said.

Officials advised homeowners to consider replacing old outdated mailboxes with ones that have a locking mechanism.

The Sierra Madre Police Department will be working with the local Postal Inspector on the investigation.
