A pursuit suspect was wounded in a deputy-involved shooting in Azusa on Thursday, officials said.
No deputies were injured in the shooting, which happened at about 6 p.m. at Citrus and Alosta avenues, according to Deputy Diane Hecht of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The man was shot after he led San Dimas Station patrol deputies on a short pursuit after they saw he was brandishing a handgun.
He tried to flee his vehicle after getting caught up in traffic, but was hit on the upper torso after he exited the passenger door. The man continued to flee and was caught after a short foot chase. His weapon was recovered at the scene according to officials.
Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo said he was airlifted to County-USC Medical Center from the scene. He is in a stable condition.
Some women were seen fleeing the scene, but investigators believe they were innocent pedestrians.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
