High Speed Police Pursuit of Assault With Deadly Weapon Ends in Whittier Area

A police pursuit of an assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer started in Burbank and ended in a residential area in Whittier Sunday night.

Newschopper4 Bravo was over the chase of a black pickup truck around 10:35 p.m.

The reason for the pursuit was assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, according to the Burbank Police Department.

After driving at high speeds on the 5, 60 and 605 freeways and through narrow streets in residential parts of Whittier, the pickup truck came to an abrupt stop.

Around 10:43 p.m., the driver ran out of the black pickup truck and disappeared into a group of apartment complexes near the intersection of Sargent Avenue and College Avenue in the city of Whittier.

A woman, who may have been a passenger in the pursuit vehicle, was detained.

A perimeter appeared to be set up as police searched for the driver.
