BMW Driver Sought After Pulling Into Mall Parking Structure After Pursuit

Two suspected burglars are on the run after leading police on a chase that ended at the Westfield Culver City Mall. Angie Crouch reports for NBC4 News on Friday, March 23, 2018.

Police searched a Culver City shopping center Friday afternoon for a burglary suspect who drove inside the mall's parking structure at the end of a freeway pursuit.

The driver of a white BMW sedan led officers on a pursuit in West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley before driving inside the parking structure at Fox Hills Mall. Police urged people to avoid the area during the search.

Several police vehicles could be seen outside the shopping center.

During the pursuit, the driver was on the shoulder of the 405 Freeway at times, passing other drivers at high speed.

Police said the pursuit began after are report of a burglary in the Canoga Park area of the San Fernando Valley. It was not immediately clear how many occupants were in the BMW.

Investigators plan to look through surveillance video to identify the driver. The vehicle was found in the parking area and impounded.
