A man accused of crashing his car through a crowd of people on the Venice Boardwalk -- killing a Italian woman on her honeymoon and injuring more than a dozen others -- pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to murder and other charges.

Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, entered his pleas in connection with the Aug. 3 crash on the Venice Boardwalk that killed Alice Gruppioni, 32, who was visiting from Italy on a honeymoon.

Witnesses said the driver maneuvered around barriers and intentionally aimed at tourists and vendors.

Campbell's attorney, Philip Dube, has said his client struggled to get the car out of park because of a faulty shift lever, gunned it, then panicked when it lurched forward and hit Gruppioni.
Campbell could face life in prison if he is convicted.
