Police are searching for an arsonist after three cars were set on fire in Panorama City Friday morning.
Firefighters responded to reports of an auto fire in the 14600 block of Nordhoff Street just after 12:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
While en route, the Los Angeles Fire Department was notified a second vehicle was starting to catch fire.
Firefighters knocked down the blaze set on the initial two vehicles and were then notified that a trash can down the street on Cedros Avenue had been set on fire.
An SUV and a Volkswagen were severely damaged, while there was minor damage to a Buick. No one was injured.
A gas can was found nearby but the suspect was not found, police said.
A witness said he saw a man in a hoodie carrying a gas can and saw him set a trash can on fire.

There is no good description of the suspect, officials said.
Officials have not confirmed whether the cars were targeted or if the incident was random.
