A child was one of two people killed when they were struck by a Metro train Wednesday morning at a crossing in the San Gabriel Valley.

Both died at the scene in Monrovia between the Monrovia and Duarte Gold Line stations. The two people were struck in the pedestrian crossway, but more details were not immediately available.

It was not immediately clear whether the crossing gate was down or up.

The station was shut down for the investigation but tracks reopened at 2 p.m., according to Metro Public Information Officer Jose Ubaldo.
