Family members mourned a woman police say was shot and killed by her estranged partner before he killed himself. Lolita Lopez reports for the NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2016.
A mother of three, including a toddler with special needs, was shot and killed by her estranged husband who shot himself and later died in Koreatown on Friday, police and family members said.
Gladis Sicajan Albir, 39, loved her three children, the youngest a 6-year-old boy with special needs who family and police said is also the child of the man who took Albir's life. She also had a restraining order against him after calls of domestic violence.
"I feel sad, so sad," said Jorge Sicajan, the victim's brother.
Her estranged husband, Jorge Martinez, shot and killed her early Friday just outside her home in Koreatown as she was getting in her car to go to work. He then walked down the street and shot himself, said LAPD Capt. Vito Palazzolo.
Martinez was transported to a hospital in critical condition and died Saturday, according to LAPD.
The pair had a history of domestic violence, police said. A restraining order stemming from a battery case in 2014 was still valid, though detectives said there had been no calls there in the last year.
Relatives say she lived for her children, two adults and the boy.
"She was always talking about them, what they were doing, how well they were trying to do with their lives," said Lili Sicajan, the victim's sister-in-law. "We didn't know that this was happening."

Albir did speak up and tried to move on, but family members never imagined something like this happening.
