Writers Guild Announces TV Nominations

LOS ANGELES -- The writers of the cable series "Dexter," "Mad Men" and the just-ended "The Wire," along with NBC's "Friday Night Lights" and ABC's "Lost," were nominated Monday for top dramatic honors in television by the Writers Guild of America.

In the comedy series category, the nominees are NBC's "30 Rock" and "The Office," the long-running Fox animated series "The Simpsons" and two cable series -- HBO's "Entourage" and Showtime's "Weeds."

The nominees for best new series are AMC's "Breaking Bad," Fox's "Fringe," HBO's "In Treatment" and "True Blood" and ABC's "Life on Mars."

The Writers Guild Awards in all categories, including motion pictures -- those nominees will be announced early next month -- will be presented Feb. 7 during simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
