A man in his 40s died after he was shot in the back in North Hollywood, a police sergeant said. Toni Guinyard reports for the NBC4 News at Noon on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015.

Police Monday sought the public's help in identifying as many as four suspects involved in the killing of a 44-year-old man who was shot in the back in North Hollywood.

It happened about 9:15 p.m. Sunday at Saticoy Street and Bellaire Avenue, according to Sgt. Catherine Leon of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

"Witnesses observed a fight in the street and then heard three gunshots," Leon said.

Officers found the victim lying face-down on the corner suffering from a gunshot wound.

Two to four men fled the scene, according to various witness accounts, Leon said.

The getaway vehicle was possibly a white Honda four-door sedan, according to police.

The victim, whose name was being withheld pending family notifcation, died at a hospital, Leon said.

"So far, we have no motive and we don't know if it was gang-related," she said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call the detective desk at the LAPD's North Hollywood Station at (818) 754-8300. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
