Man Shot to Death in Lake Los Angeles

Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in the Antelope Valley community

Still reeling from the transfer of convicted rapist Christopher Hubbard, the quiet, secluded community of Lake Los Angeles woke up to news of a murder Friday morning. John Cádiz Klemack reports from Palmdale with the latest details on the case for the NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014.

Detectives on Friday were investigating the shooting death of a man in the Lake Los Angeles area.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were called to a home in the 40200 block of 162nd street around 6:20 a.m. in the Antelope Valley community near Palmdale.

Officials responding to the burglary call found a 55-year-old man dead inside the home with trauma to his upper torso, Los Angeles Sheriff's officials said.

The cause of death is not yet known.

"We can't tell," LA Sheriff's Lt. Dave Coleman said. "There's quite a bit of blood inside and surrounding him."

Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
