Man Sought in Death of Wife in Camarillo

Deputies are looking for Jose Guzman in connection with the death of his wife. John Cádiz Klemack reports for the NBC4 News on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016.

Deputies on Friday sought the public's help to find a man in connection with the death of his wife that detectives are investigating as a homicide.

Jose Guzman, 43, is being sought and he could be armed, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said.

He disappeared before deputies arrived at a home on Walker Avenue in Camarillo at 12:30 Friday morning, deputies said.

His wife was found inside the home suffering from major undisclosed injuries. She died at a hospital.

Neighbor Sergio Serrano heard a terrible, high-pitched scream.

"It's just really strange, you know, in a neighborhood like this," he said. "It's really quiet around here."

Neighbors said Guzman is a truck driver with young boys.

"Yeah, they got two kids, really nice kids," said Mark Worthington. "I don't know what happened but the guy's a really nice guy, funny, never had any arguments. I didn't know they had any problems with the wife or anything like that."

He said the family was always outside and rushing to their kids' sporting events.
