Homeless Man Stabbed in Violent North Hills Confrontation

Police say the victim was just minding his own business when the attack occurred

A homeless man minding his own business was stabbed multiple times during a violent confrontation Saturday night, police said.

The victim, a Hispanic man, was stabbed seven to eight times in the upper body after his attacker became frustrated that he did not understand English, said the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division.

The victim was walking down the street when a vehicle pulled up next to him and, after an exchange, someone got out and began punching him in the stomach before speeding off, police said the victim told them. It wasn't until he began walking that he realized he had been stabbed and not punched.

Officers are reviewing surveillance video of the confrontation to track down the assailant, and The victim is expected to survive, police said.
