Veteran San Francisco Police Horse ‘Gunny' Retiring

San Francisco’s mounted police will send one of their own off into the sunset: Gunny the horse. The SFPD decided to “corral” the 19-year-old horse and take him off the streets. Talk about being put out to pasture! But not before the department throws him a retirement party at Lefty O’Doul’s in Union Square. It starts at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Gunny started riding with the SFPD 2009. In retirement, the horse will be a stable mate for another now-retired police horse.
