A Huntington resident captured two officers tossing around a football with two kids in Huntington. This heart-warming moment came shortly after a Fourth of July parade on Monday July 4, 2016.
An annual Fourth of July celebration ended on a high note for a Huntington Beach resident when two police officers took a moment to play football with her son.
Jade Daniels was watching her son, 9-year-old Carson Daniels, and his friend, 10-year-old Jesse Cervantes, play football in the street after a Fourth of July parade when members of the Huntington Beach Police Department pulled up in a patrol car.
"They jumped out of the car and said, 'Here, pass it,' and they just started playing," she said.
A bystander captured the heart-warming moment on camera. The officers were clearing people from the streets after parade when they stopped.
Daniels said her son was "so excited" when the officer began playing with him and said he talks about the incident all the time to his friends.
She said there "are not enough words" to describe how much she appreciates the Huntington Police, and believes her son learned an important lesson.
"It teaches kids not to be afraid of cops," she said. "They aren't just hidden behind their patrol cars."
