Woman in Wheelchair Critically Wounded in East LA Shooting

A woman in a wheelchair was found shot outside an apartment complex in East Los Angeles and now authorities are seeking her shooter. Marin Austin reports for Today in LA on Saturday, March, 19, 2016.

A disabled woman in a wheelchair was in critically wounded after she was shot early Saturday morning in East Los Angeles, authorities said.

The shooting was reported just after 4:30 a.m. in the 4900 block of East Cesar Chavez Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The woman was found shot near a fire hydrant inside the grounds of the Maravilla Housing Project, still sitting in her wheelchair, the sheriff's department said. 

The victim was transported to a hospital in where she is in stable condition.

Police initally said the suspected shooter was a woman, but later said a man was being sought. 

No arrests were made in connection with the shooting.
