A two-mile stretch of Highway 79 on the east end of Temecula will be partially closed Wednesday and Thursday for repairs, and drivers traveling the two-lane corridor are advised to prepare for delays or consider an alternate route.
According to Caltrans, a contractor will be replacing fragmented pavement on the highway between Horizon View Street and Pauba Road beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Crews will be working on one side of the highway, narrowing it to one lane. Flagging operations will be in place to allow east- and westbound drivers through the construction zone at intervals.
"Motorists are advised that delays could be lengthy," according to a Caltrans statement.
A detour will be available, and drivers should look for signage. De Portola Road, north of Vail Lake, is one alternate route.
The work is slated to run until 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
