Santa Ana Albertsons Evacuated While Police Search for Pursuit Suspect

An Albertsons store in Santa Ana was evacuated as police searched for a pursuit suspect who fled from their car and ran into the store. Vikki Vargas reports for NBC4 News on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

A burglary suspect led police on a pursuit Thursday from Mission Viejo to Santa Ana, where he ditched his vehicle and fled into an Albertsons grocery store, which was evacuated while police conducted a search.

The pursuit started about 2 p.m. when law enforcement got a "Lojack hit" on a car linked to a home burglary in Mission Viejo, said Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Police, including sheriff's deputies, California Highway Patrol and from the city of Orange, pursued the suspect until he got to the Albertsons and ran into the store at 2000 E. 17th St., Braun said.

Police evacuated employees and shoppers while they searched the store. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
