Scheduled Closures on Eastbound 91 Freeway This Weekend

Eastbound lanes will be experiencing closures, but westbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to remain open this weekend.

Drivers are advised to stay clear of the eastbound 91 Freeway in Corona this weekend while scheduled closures of all eastbound lanes take place.

Starting at 11:59 p.m. Friday, eastbound lanes of State Route 91 will be closed at Interstate 15 so concrete can be poured for a connector bridge, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission's 91 Project.

Motorists will be directed to take the southbound 15 freeway, and exit at Magnolia Avenue. Then, drivers are advised to re-enter the northbound 15 and take the eastbound 91 connector, because the connector between the eastbound 91 and the northbound 15 will be closed, the 91 Project noted.

Lanes are scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

A second closure will start at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Maple Street for a bridge demolition. According to the 91 Project, motorists will exit at Maple Street, and are advised to turn left on Paseo Grande so they can re-enter the eastbound 91. The closure is scheduled to end at noon Sunday.

Westbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to remain open this weekend.

Drivers are encouraged to take the eastbound 60 Freeway to southbound 15 in order to access the 91 Freeway and avoid the closures. The 91 Project advised drivers who must drive through the area to plan for a longer travel time, use the detour routes provided, to consider using Metrolink services, or to delay driving until the afternoon.

As part of a project spanning 10 consecutive weekends, express lanes on the eastbound 91 Freeway between the 55 Freeway and Imperial Highway will also be closed for repaving work from Friday at 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday, according to the Orange County Transit Authority.
