Search for Gunmen After San Gabriel Home Invasion Leaves 2 Hurt

Police were searching for two armed men after a home invasion robbery in a San Gabriel neighborhood Monday night, San Gabriel police said.

Police responded to reports that a man had been shot around 9 p.m. in the 140 block of Chestnut.

They found two people had head wounds and they were taken to the hospital, police said. It was possible that they were hit in the head and it wasn't immediately clear if someone had been shot, police said.

Neither victim, a 43-year-old man and 39-year-old woman, sustained life-threatening injuries. The injuries also did not appear to be gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the San Gabriel Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed two men forced their way into the home after knocking on the door. When they made their way inside the home, the suspected robbers forced the female victim onto the floor at gunpoint and then struck her in the head with a handgun, according to a news release.

There were four people in the home, police said.

It was unclear if anything was taken from the home.

The residents had a home surveillance video system, and police were trying to access the footage.
