Jordan Farmar Gets To Play Operation

Jordan Farmar, who tore the meniscus in his left knee against Miami last Friday,  has gotten two medical opinions and they sound like an echo — time to go under the knife. Lakers team doctor Steve Lombardo and Dr. Byron Patterson both looked at Farmar’s knee in Los Angeles Monday and gave the same advice.

Officially Farmar is now “considering his options.” Let’s make this easy for him, here are his options:

1) Get surgery, sit out six to eight weeks, and rejoin team for run deep into playoffs.

2) Let injury heal on its own, sit out rest of the season where at the end the Lakers start to decide what to do about your next contract.

3) Give up basketball.

So, surgery it is, although the date is not set. Apparently. Although the Lakers rarely announce these things until the operation is complete.

In the short term, the Lakers are expected to take a look at some free agent point guards to fill out the roster. Problem is, the pickings are pretty slim out there right now: Dee Brown is a solid pro and defender who could fit in; Troy Hudson generally only played great against the Lakers and mediocre most of the rest of the time; Eddie Gill is serviceable. Rumor is former Laker Janero Pargo wants out of his contract in Russia, but as any spy will tell you wanting out of Russia and getting out of Russia are two different things.
