Police were searching for thieves who stole watches in a smash-and-grab robbery at a Rolex store in the South Coast Plaza mall in Costa Mesa on Friday.
The robbery was reported at 8:22 p.m. at the mall, which has about 250 stores.
No injuries were reported but there were unconfirmed reports a security guard may have been assaulted and possibly separated from his weapon.
It was not known how many robbers were involved in the thefts.
Police did not provide a description of the suspected thieves.
