A section of Sepulveda Boulevard in Torrance remained closed through the early morning hours Monday due to a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Sunday, police said.
An 83-year-old Redondo Beach man driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck crashed into a power pole on Sepulveda Boulevard near Ocean Avenue shortly before noon on Sunday and died at a hospital, said Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
"It was discovered the driver ... suffered a medical emergency prior to veering off the road and colliding with the power-line pole,'' Harris said.
Sepulveda Boulevard was closed between Anza Avenue and Ocean Avenue until 3:30 this morning while crews worked to repair the power pole and lines, Harris said.
