Water Main Break Showers Neighborhood

Crews repair a broken water main the sent a gush of water into a Gardena neighborhood. John Cadiz Klemack reports for the NBC4 News at Noon on Wednesday June 17, 2015.

A water main break showered vehicles and lawns Wednesday morning with a geyser of water that soaked a Gardena neighborhood.

The 4-inch pipe rupture was reported at about 4 a.m. in the 14600 block of Daphne Avenue. Crews shut off the water to about a block of residences as they began repairs on the pipe, installed in 1952.

The cash iron line was replaced with about 12 inches of plastic pipe.

The sidewalk in front of the residence will need to be ripped up and replaced.
