Obama To Declare LA-Area “Promise Zone”

A new poverty-fighting initiative from the federal government is promising to open up additional funding to five “Promise Zones” throughout the country, and one of them is in Los Angeles. On Thursday, Mayor Garcetti will travel to Washington, D.C., to join President Obama for the formal announcement.
