SoCal Veteran Hailed as Champion, Hero Dies at 97

Southern California resident Louis Zamperini garnered fame as both an Olympic track and field champion and later as a World War II prisoner with an improbable story of survival. On Wednesday, Zamperini died after a bout of pneumonia at the age of 97.
