The 10 Freeway was closed Friday morning for police shooting investigation in the East Los Angeles area Friday March 31, 2023.

A man wanted in a robbery was killed in a police shooting at the end of a pursuit Friday on the 10 Freeway in the East Los Angeles area.

Details about the investigation were not immediately available, but authorities said the man was wanted in a robbery earlier in March in Los Angeles. The driver, who was the only person in the car, fired at officers during the brief chase, police said.

The driver got out of the car near Eastern Avenue and ran across freeway lanes. Officers returned fire, and the man died at the scene on a freeway ramp near a McDonald's.

Aerial video showed investigators walking on the freeway in search of evidence. Three law enforcement vehicles were stopped near a white BMW sedan with the driver's side door open.

A body covered with a sheet was on a nearby freeway ramp.

Police said a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
