Beached Whale Stuns Newport Beachgoers

High waves at Orange County beaches weren’t just dangerous to swimmers and surfers Friday.

A wave beachgoers said was between 10 and 12 feet high pushed a whale ashore in Newport Beach.

It struggled for about two minutes before another wave came and covered it in enough water to help it get back to seas.

Dozens of onlookers gathered near the whale before it was able to make it back to deeper waters.

A high surf advisory is in effect along all Los Angeles and Orange county beaches until 9 p.m. Friday.
