Driver Fatally Shot Before Crashing Into Home

A driver was fatally shot just before he crashed into a San Bernardino home Thursday night, police said.

The man was driving in the 1000 block of F Street near Olive Street just after 9 p.m. when he was shot by someone in another vehicle, causing him to lose control of his SUV, crash through a fence and hit the front porch of a home, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

The driver was identified as 29-year-old Vincent Gandara of San Bernardino. Police said he is a known gang member.

Gandara was taken to St. Bernadine Medical Center, where he died of his wounds.

Witnesses told people they had seen someone in a tan car firing shots at Gandara's SUV near where he crashed.

No arrests have been made.

The slaying marks San Bernardino's 25th homicide of the year.
