Two Los Angeles police officers and a BMW driver were taken to hospitals after the police car crashed into the BMW and a taxi in Del Rey on Sunday night while responding to a call of a woman with a knife, an LAPD official said.

The crash happened at 8:38 p.m. on Mindanao Way near the Marina (90) Freeway, just after the call came about the woman with a knife, according to LAPD Sgt. Kara Nightingale.

The officers and the BMW driver complained of pain and did not appear to have major injuries, Nightingale said.

The taxi driver and the taxi passenger apparently were not injured, she said.
