Person With Gun Reported at LA's John Muir Middle School

John Muir Middle School in South Los Angeles was placed on lockdown and searched Monday afternoon after a person with a gun was reported to be on campus, police said.

The incident was reported to police at 1:43 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera.

Officers searched the campus at 5929 S. Vermont Ave., Herrera said.

Aerial footage showed parents gathered nearby the campus, and streets leading to the school were blocked off by police while the search continued.

According to LAUSD's communications department, three other nearby schools were also placed on lockdown during the search: Budlong Avenue Elementary, Lou Dantzler Preparatory Charter Elementary and Parks/Huerta Primary School.

The school was cleared by 3 p.m.

No suspects or weapons were found, according to LAUSD.
