Police: 8 More Women Might Be “Grim Sleeper” Victims

Chief Beck is scheduled to conduct a news conference Tuesday afternoon

Eight more women might be linked to the "Grim Sleeper" slayings, according to investigators.

According to an LAPD news release Tuesday, detectives are focusing on eight women who had connections with Lonnie Franklin Jr.

He is the suspect in serial killings of women and girls shot or strangled since 1985. Six of the women are missing persons, one is an unsolved homicide victim and the eighth is an unidentified woman.

Four of the women had not previously been connected to the investigation.

Police Chief Charlie Beck scheduled a Tuesday afternoon news conference to discuss the update.

Franklin was arrested July 8 on suspicion of killing at least 10 young women and one man in South Los Angeles between 1985 and 2007. The killer was dubbed the Grim Sleeper because of a long gap between killings.
