Man Allegedly Posts Craigslist Ads for Apartments to Scam Victims Out of Money

Anyone who may have been a victim is asked to contact the UCLA Police Department.

UCLA Police are warning students about a man who has been posting ads for apartments on Craigslist and scamming victims out of money.

James Webb Hunter, 37, was arrested by UCLA Police for theft by false pretenses.

According to police, Hunter has a habit of posting ads on Craigslist for apartments for rent. He then scams victims out of money while the lease is being transferred to another person.

Police said that Hunter was seen on the UCLA campus on October 10. His vehicle, a 2004 White Ford Taurus, has a UCLA Bruins logo. His current license plate number, according to police, is 7HAL689. The previous plate number was 6YEG332.
