Jackie Crea is an award-winning journalist and reporter/fill-in anchor with extensive experience covering breaking news, severe weather, investigative stories and major national events across some of the country's most competitive televisions markets.
Currently in San Diego, Crea has built a career defined by versatility in both anchoring and field reporting, with experience at NBC 7 San Diego, Denver7 in Colorado, KHOU 11 in Houston and KTSM Channel 9 in El Paso. She began her journalism career as an intern at NBC 7 — later returning to the station as a reporter and anchor.
Originally from the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles, she started as an MMJ in El Paso, TX, living with her grandma. While at KHOU 11 in Houston, Crea covered some of the region’s most significant breaking news events and natural disasters, including the historic 2015 Memorial Day floods, when parts of the Houston area received more than 11 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. During the flooding, she reported live through the night after becoming stranded in a news truck on a bridge, alongside hundreds of motorists trapped by flooded streets. Her coverage during severe weather events in TX and CO, and fast-moving emergencies showcased her ability to deliver calm, accurate reporting under intense and unpredictable conditions.
Crea also covered major national stories, including the deadly ambush that killed five Dallas police officers in 2016, presidential visits to Texas, Super Bowl coverage, immigration and border issues, and military-related reporting in El Paso and San Diego. Her experience spans anchoring and field reporting across breaking news, public safety, community stories, and enterprise journalism.
She lives in San Diego with her husband Tom and her two kids: Jack & Eve.
