Tonight: “Planet Earth” Live

Big visuals, big Phil, big night sky

"PLANET EARTH" LIVE: It's lovely to watch this epic, big-scale BBC series at home. But we think under the evening sky, surrounded by hills, is a nicely natural setting, no grazing herd of antelopes required. The LA Phil is playing along. Tonight and tomorrow, 8:30 p.m.

FREE ROBYN CONCERT: You may be heading for the Music Box @ Fonda to see her concert with Kelis, but make time to stop by Amoeba Records ahead of that for a short 'n sweet show from the Swedish popster. Amoeba gets "Dancing On My Own" at 7 p.m.

MEL BROOKS AND CARL REINER: They're taking a seat at the Egyptian to talk "Your Show of Shows" and "The 2000 Year Old Man" and other important comedic topics. If you miss tonight, they'll be popping by the theater over the next few days.
