Computer-Store Gunman at Large in Lancaster

A shooting occurred at 20th Street and Avenue K, police said

Police continued their search for a gunman into the night Friday following an afternoon shooting in a commercial building just west of 14 Freeway in Lancaster, authorities said.

Deputies converged on a home about 40 blocks from the scene, where they think the suspect may be hiding.

A man in his 60s was fatally shot inside e-Chaps Computer Store in the 2000 block of West Avenue K around 4 p.m., according to Lancaster Sheriff's officials.

The suspect reportedly entered the business with a ski mask and hood obscuring his face, police said. He carried with him a backpack and rolling suitcase.

The victim was described as a computer genius - adept at fixing and debugging computers, often at no charge.

Police would said the incident stemmed from a robbery that went bad.

The shooter fled from the scene in an older black sedan with a waiting driver, sheriff's officials said.
