Street Racer Crashes Through Brick Wall in Front of Home

A driver knocked down a light pole and crashed through a brick wall in front of a house Monday morning in what police said is likely a case of street racing.

Police were conducting a street racing sting in the northern San Fernando Valley at the time of the overnight crash in Sun Valley. Tire marks on Sheldon Avenue led up to the front of a house and a yard full of scattered bricks.

Two people in the car got into another vehicle and left the location, homeowner Ignacio Lopez told NBC4. Lopez said the crash, which missed his home by a few feet, was so powerful that it sounded like an earthquake.

"The car was just...it was just hanging there," his son, 12-year-old Juan Lopez, said.

No injuries were reported.

The street racing sting targeted locations through the San Fernando Valley.

"We disrupted a number of races...issued citations and arrested the main orchestrator of the events," said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Rich Brunson.

Details regarding arrests were not immediately available.
