Authorities on Monday  identified a 6-year-old girl who died of brain injury after a television set fell on her in her El Monte home.

The girl was found lying on the floor of the room where she was sleeping with a 32-inch TV next to her, at about 7 a.m. Sunday. The girl's home is in the 12000 block of Hallwood Drive.

Kimberley Menjivar died at a hospital, said Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner's office. The death was being listed as an accident, Winter said.

The TV -- a deep, older-type unit and not a flat-screen model -- apparently fell off a dresser, Smith said. There was no evidence of foul play, he said.
