The reported attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old boy in Azusa Monday night did not happen as reported, officials said Wednesday.

    The reported attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old boy in Azusa Monday night did not happen, officials said Wednesday.

    Detectives responded to the report that two men in a van attempted to pull the boy inside around 9 p.m. Monday night in the 300 block of N. San Gabriel Avenue. The boy said he was able to escape after a struggle.

    In a statement, the Azusa Police Department said it had followed up on all aspects of the investigation and determined “the incident did not take place as originally reported.”

    The statement said detectives are “confident no attempted kidnapping occurred."
