A bomb squad was deployed to a Stanton strip mall parking lot Monday after a man arrested in connection with a bank robbery told authorities he had explosives in his car.
The heist occurred Monday morning at Bank of the West in the 11000 block of Beach Boulevard in Stanton. Authorities arrested a 62-year-old man after a traffic stop at Katella and Western avenues in connection with the robbery.
The subject claimed to have explosives in the vehicle after a traffic stop, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. A bomb squad robot was deployed to investigate the vehicle, a maroon Corvette covertible parked in a nearby strip mall.
After about an hour of searching the vehicle, no explosives were found, but the cash taken in the bank robbery was located, according to authorities.
