Detectives Return to Site of Deadly Fire

Police investigators Wednesday wrapped yellow crime tape around the Hollywood Hills home where a veteran Los Angeles city firefighter was killed last week.

Police confirmed to NBCLA they declared a crime scene at the home Wednesday afternoon and planned on keeping the property secured by a patrol officer.

Police spokeswoman Diana Soukounian says robbery-homicide division detectives will be at the Viewsite Drive home Thursday. Fire Department and Building and Safety department officials also are investigating.

Law enforcement sources told NBCLA Thursday that investigators are looking into the possibility that the homeowner might have been negligent in the building of the home. The sources told NBCLA that the homeowner was his own contractor and architect.

Detectives were at the home, 1546 Viewsite Drive, for several hours Wednesday afternoon.

Last week fire officials reported firefighter Glenn Allen was killed when a water-saturated ceiling caved-in on him.

A 90-minute candlelight vigil for Allen was planned Thursday, starting at  6:30 p.m., at Fire Station 78 in Studio City.
