Man and Dog Found Dead After ‘Suspicious' Fire in Seal Beach

A man and dog were found dead after a fire, being investigating as a "suspicious," engulfed a Seal Beach home early Saturday morning, officials said.

The fire was reported just after midnight in the 200 block of 17th Street, Capt. Steve Concialdi with the Orange County Fire Authority said.

Firefighters arrived to a two-story, multi-family home with fire coming out of the second floor, Concialdi said.

Officials said combustibles in the garage and inside the home prevented the firefighters from entering the house.

The fire was under control by 1:30 a.m., Concialdi said. Firefighters found a man and a dog dead inside the home.

The victim was identified by Seal Beach Police as 67-year-old John Donnelly.

Police said the fire was being investigated as "suspicious" but gave no further details.
