Second Body Located in Search for Missing Pyramid Lake Boaters

The men went missing Sunday after what appears to be a boating accident at the lake off the 5 Freeway north of Los Angeles

Divers searching for one of two boaters reported missing Sunday at Pyramid Lake recovered a second body from the recreation area north of Los Angeles, authorities announced Wednesday morning.

The victim and another man died in what authorities said appears to be a boating accident Sunday at the reservoir off the 5 Freeway in the southeastern Los Padres National Forest. The body found Wednesday was identified as that of 64-year-old Jack Thirasack, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Thirasack likely drowned, according to detectives. An official cause of death was not immediately determined.

The discovery was made three days after searchers pulled the body of Rick Tanovan, of West Covina, from the lake north of Castaic. Tanovan was found about 100 feet from where responding sheriff's deputies found the bow of a boat exposed above the surface of the lake.

Thirasack's body was found about 30 feet northeast from where Tanovan was discovered.
