Pregnant Woman Injured, Man Arrested in Crash

Salvador Lopez, 39, was arrested after fleeing a wreck involving a pregnant woman and a motorcyclist in Garden Grove.

A 39-year-old man was arrested after fleeing a two-vehicle wreck involving a pregnant woman and a motorcyclist Thursday night in Orange County.

An older model Lexus was turning left into a parking lot when it collided with a motorcycle near Chapman Avenue and Dale Street, according to the a news release from the Garden Grove Police Department.

Police said the driver of the Lexus, Salvador Lopez. ran away following the crash but was later found at his home by deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The passenger in the vehicle, 36, was found to be five months pregnant, officials said. She was taken to UCI Medical Center where she and her child were listed in stable condition.

The motorcyclist, 55, was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in critical condition following surgery.

It’s unclear whether drugs were a factor in the crash, but police are continuing to investigate the incident. Lopez was booked on a pre-existing warrant for driving under the influence.
