Suspected Gunman Fatally Shot by Police in Boyle Heights

Officers pursued the suspect on foot after an individual was killed in front of a Carl's Jr. at the intersection of 4th Street and Soto Street

A man suspected of shooting a person dead was fatally gunned down by police in Boyle Heights Wednesday night.

Officers heard gunshots, then pursued the suspect on foot after an individual was killed in front of a Carl's Jr. at the intersection of 4th Street and Soto Street at around 10:25 p.m, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

Moments later the alleged gunman, who police say was armed with a handgun, was shot dead at 3rd Street and Mathews Street. It is unknown how many officers shot at the man, or how many rounds were unloaded.

The homicide scene was cleared at around 6 a.m, with 4th Street re-opening. The OIS scene expected to be active until about 11 a.m
